Spotify has made an interesting change to its app – credited to artist Adele. From now on, albums will no longer be shuffled by default.
The successful artist recently released her new studio album 30. In the course of the publication, she had sharp criticism of Spotify – who now also responded to the criticism. The shuffle button on album pages is history.
Adele shares her motivations
The artist doesn’t hold back on her criticisms – she wants listeners to hear the album as she imagined it. A criticism that has been around for a long time.
That was the only wish I had in our ever-changing industry! We don’t make our albums with so much care in the tracklisting for no reason. Our art tells a story and our stories should be heard the way we intend them to be heard. Thanks Spotify for listening.
This was the only request I had in our ever changing industry! We don’t create albums with so much care and thought into our track listing for no reason. Our art tells a story and our stories should be listened to as we intended. Thank you Spotify for listening 🍷♥️ https://t.co/XWlykhqxAy
It’s not the first time a streaming service has catered to artists’ requests. This is how we fondly remember Taylor Swift, who feuded with Apple years ago.
