Before we get to the heart of this tutorial and explain to you how to download songs from spotifyit is necessary to make a necessary premise relating to the function Downloads of the popular music streaming service and content that you can download with a free account.
The function Downloads of Spotify allows you to download individual songs, playlists, albums and podcasts to your device allowing you to listen to them even in offline mode, both when an Internet connection is not available and when the option is manually activated Offline from the application settings.
If you are wondering if it is possible download songs from Spotify for free, you should know that the free version of the music streaming service does not allow you to download single songs or playlists and albums. With a free account you can download and listen offline only podcastsand exclusively from smartphones and tablets.
To also download songs, playlists and albums and listen to them without an Internet connection, you need to activate a subscription Spotify Premium starting from 9.99 euros/month (or 4.99 euros/month for Spotify Premium Student, for students only) with a free trial from 1 to 3 months, depending on the chosen subscription and any active promotions. However, I would like to point out that even in the paid version of Spotify there are some limitations relating to downloading songs. Indeed, it is allowed to download songs on a maximum of 5 devices several and you need to connect to Spotify at least once every 30 days so you don’t lose your downloaded music and podcasts. Having clarified this, let’s see how to proceed.
How to Download Songs from Spotify with Premium
As mentioned in the initial lines of this guide, for download songs from Spotify you must have activated a subscription Spotify Premium: By doing so, you can download individual songs, albums, playlists and podcasts and start playing them even when an Internet connection is not available. How to download songs from Spotify to Android and iPhone

For download songs from Spotify to Android and iPhonetake your device, start the Spotify app (available for Android, also on alternative stores, and iOS/iPadOS) by tapping its icon and, if you haven’t already done so, access your account by choosing an access mode access between Use Facebook, Continue with Google And Continue with Apple if, respectively, you signed up using your Facebook account, a Google account or your Apple ID. If, however, you have created a Spotify account via email, select the option Log inenter your data in the fields Email address or username And Password and tap the button Log into log in.
At this point, to download a specific album on Spotify, tap on the entry Research in the menu at the bottom, type the title of the album of your interest in the field Artists, songs or podcasts and, in the search results, tap on first name of the album you want to download. In the new screen that appears, tap the icon of arrow pointing down and wait for all the songs contained in the chosen album to be downloaded.
Similarly, you can also proceed to download playlists And podcasts. However, it is not possible to directly download a single song: to do this, you can create a playlist or, more simply, add the song in question to your favourites.
In the first case, tap on the item Research placed in the menu at the bottom and search for the song of your interest by its title or the name of the artist. Once you have identified the song you wish to download, tap the relative icon three dotsselect the option Add to playlist and, in the new screen that appears, tap the button New playlistto create a new playlist dedicated to the songs you want to download.
Then enter the first name of the playlist in the appropriate field (e.g. Downloads) and tap the button Create, to create a playlist on Spotify. At this point, click on the icon arrow pointing down, to download the song in question. To download other songs, all you have to do is locate the songs of your interest and add them to the playlist you just created: all the new songs added will be downloaded automatically.
If you want to avoid creating a new playlist dedicated to the songs to download, you can add the songs of your interest to the section Favorite tracks of your account and, subsequently, activate the download of the latter. Again, after searching for the song to download, press the relative icon three dots and select the option I like from the menu that opens.
Once this is done, tap on the entry Your library in the menu below, access the section Favorite tracks and move the lever next to the item Downloads from OFF to ONto start downloading all the songs you have previously added to this list.

To listen to downloaded songs when you don’t have an Internet connection available or when you decide to activate offline mode from your account settings, start the Spotify app and, on the main screen, you should see the section Downloaded music. Then press on the album, playlist, podcast of your interest to start playback.
If, on the other hand, you have downloaded individual songs by adding them to the section Favorite trackstap the entry Songs you like (alternatively, select the option Your library in the menu below and choose the item Favorite tracks) and tap on the title of the song you want to listen to.
How do you say? Do you want to remove content that you have previously downloaded? To delete an album, playlist or podcast, access the section Downloaded musicpress on the content of your interest and touch the icon arrow pointing down. Then select the option Remove And that’s it.
If, on the other hand, you intend to deactivate the Download option for your favorite songs, all you have to do is access the section Your librarypress on the entry Favorite tracks and move the lever next to the option Download done from ON to OFF.
How to Download Songs from Spotify to PC

If your intention is download songs from Spotify to PC, you should know that it is possible to do this only using the official application of the service for Windows and macOS and only for playlists (including those created by other users), therefore not for albums or individual songs. If you haven’t downloaded Spotify to your computer yet, my dedicated guide on the subject may be useful.
That said, to download a playlist created by you, launch Spotify on your computer and, if you are not yet logged into your account, click on the button Log in. Then enter your data in the fields Email address or username And Password and press the button again Log in, to log in. If, on the other hand, you signed up for Spotify using your Facebook account, click on the option Log in with Facebook.
Now, locate the section Playlists in the sidebar on the left, click on the playlist of your interest and, in the new screen that appears, move the lever next to the item Downloads from OFF to ON, to download all the songs contained in the playlist in question. Alternatively, press on your own first nameat the top right, select the card Public playlists and locate the playlist you want to download. Then click on the relative icon three dots and select the option Downloads from the menu that opens.
The procedure for downloading a playlist on Spotify created by other users or automatically generated by Spotify is almost identical to what I have just indicated for downloading a playlist created by you. All you have to do is search for and access the playlist of your interest, click on the icon three dots and select the option Save to Your Library. Once this is done, move the toggle next to the option Downloads from OFF to ON And that’s it.

I point out that even from a computer, you can download specific songs by adding them to the list of your favorite songs. To do this, search for the song of your interest by entering its title in the field Near (top) and, in the search results, right click on thethumbnail image of the song in question.
Then select the option Save to your favorite songs and click on the option Favorite tracks visible in the sidebar on the left. At this point, move the lever next to the option Downloads from OFF to ON to download all the songs you like.
When you don’t have an Internet connection available or you decide to manually activate Spotify Offline mode, you can play the downloaded songs by accessing the section Favorite tracks. If, on the other hand, you have downloaded playlists, locate the section Playlists in the left sidebar and click on the playlists you have previously downloaded (they are identified by the icon of the arrow pointing down).
To delete the downloaded content, however, access the section Favorite tracks or at playlists that you want to remove from downloads and move the switch next to the option Download done from ON to OFF. Simple, right?
