How to Download Spotify Offline Playlists

As mentioned in the introduction, to download playlists on Spotify you need to have a Premium account on the service, but if you are a new member you will be pleased to know that you can take advantage of a 3-month trial period , and then decide whether to renew subscription or less (the cost of the standard plan is 9.99 euros/month).
For other types of subscriptions, such as Duo , Family and Student , however, the free period is limited to 1 month . If, on the other hand, you are already registered for the service and, therefore, have used this promotion in the past, you will necessarily have to start paying right away.
If, at this point, you are interested in learning more about the subject, and want to evaluate the various offers available on Spotify, I strongly suggest you read my guide on how to activate Spotify Premium.
How to download Spotify playlists to smartphones and tablets

You usually listen to your favorite music on a mobile device and, therefore, would like to know how to download Spotify playlists on smartphones and tablets , and then possibly listen to them offline so as not to consume the data traffic available on your phone plan? No problem, I’ll settle right away.
First, I advise you to set the audio quality by acting on the app preferences, in order to select an option suitable for the size of the playlist (or playlists) you intend to download. Consider that, obviously, the higher the quality, the greater the space occupied on the device.
To do this, launch the Spotify app , then press the gear symbol at the top right of the Home screen and scroll through the options there until you find the Audio Quality section . Inside there is the Download function , and by pressing the corresponding value (the default is set to Normal ) you can select the one you deem most suitable.

Also, you should know that by default it is not possible to download without Wi-Fi. If you want to change this preference and use data traffic to download playlists, press the lever below in correspondence with the item Download with data to position it on .
Then press the function Your library located at the bottom right. In the following screen, locate the playlist you want to download, possibly applying filters for Playlists , Artists or Albums using the appropriate options there to facilitate the search, then press on it to access the details of the songs contained. I want to clarify that it is possible to download any type of playlist, even if not created directly by you.
Once this is done, press the downward pointing arrow symbol located just below the playlist title, then wait for the indicator displayed in its place to graphically show the completion of the download: as the procedure progresses , you will see the symbol of a green arrow corresponding to the songs already downloaded, and at the end, the symbol you just pressed will also turn green.
The operation, however, cannot be considered concluded yet: in fact, to understand how to download offline Spotify playlists , it is also necessary to set the listening mode . Just go back to the service settings, as shown at the beginning of this chapter, and move the lever for the Offline mode function , located in the Playback section, to On .
How to Download Playlists from Spotify to PC

If you want to realize how to download playlists from Spotify to PC , you must know first of all that the operation is only possible using the Spotify application: in fact, there are no download functions in the web player. If you have not yet installed it, in this guide I will show you the procedure for both Windows PC and macOS .
Once you have started the software and logged in , press the item Your library located at the top right and locate the playlist you want to download from the central screen (I take it for granted that you have already created several, but if you need support for their creation, in this tutorial I will explain the whole procedure step by step), then click on its box to access the related detail screen.
At this point, press the arrow symbol pointing downwards located just to the right of the ▶︎ button, and wait for the download of the various songs that make up the selected playlist: you can check the progress using the indicator that replaces temporarily the arrow symbol.
When the operation is completed, the arrow becomes visible again and is colored green , while a small icon with the same symbol (in this case gray ) will be added to each song in the playlist to confirm that it is being listened to, now, it can also happen offline . For completeness of information, I would like to point out that the same operation can also be performed by pressing the symbol of the three horizontal dots located next to the aforementioned arrow and selecting the Download option from the contextual menu .

Obviously, the same procedure also applies to playlists not created directly by you, shared by other Spotify users or, for example, created by the service itself specifically for you according to your tastes, which you can discover by scrolling the application’s Home screen or by performing a simple search .

Now, I guess you’re rightly wondering what you need to do to make sure that playback takes place offline : well, if you use the Windows version , just press the symbol of the three horizontal dots located at the top left, select from the menu that is proposed to you the File entry and, following this, the Offline mode option . If, on the other hand, you use a Mac , the same functionality can be viewed by clicking on the Spotify item in the menu located at the top left.
Before concluding this chapter, I want to let you know that you can also manage the audio quality of the download by acting on the Spotify settings : to do this, press your account image at the top right, press the Settings option from the context menu, then scroll down the central screen until you find the Audio quality section and select one of the options offered from the drop-down menu located next to the Download item .
How to download Spotify playlists for free

You would really like to know how to download Spotify playlists for free , without having a Premium account, right? Technically this would also be possible, but these are procedures in clear conflict with Spotify’s terms of use. My advice, therefore, is, where possible, to take advantage of the free trial (variable from 1 to 3 months, depending on the promotional periods) which I mentioned in the introductory chapter of the guide.
You can easily check if you are eligible to take advantage of the offer either from a PC, by connecting to the Spotify website, pressing the Take advantage of xx months free button present there and authenticating, or, if you have the Desktop version of the app, by clicking on the function Perform the upgrade located at the top right. If, on the other hand, you usually use the app for mobile devices, press the Premium symbol located at the bottom right: in all cases, if your profile is compatible with the promotion, you will immediately be given the opportunity to proceed with its activation .
Should you no longer be eligible for the trial reserved for new subscribers, I advise you to keep an eye on the convenient offers that are periodically offered to users with a Spotify Free profile and which provide, for example, the possibility of activating 3 months at the price of 1 .
How do you say? Would you like to know how to download Spotify playlists to MP3 ? Well, I inform you that this is not feasible as the official Spotify files are in AAC format , one of the most widespread and supported audio codecs, as well as qualitatively better. If, on the other hand, you are wondering how to download Spotify playlists to USB , also in this case the answer is negative, for obvious issues related to copyright and protection systems applied to songs ( DRM ) it is possible to listen to songs downloaded from Spotify only from Spotify app and the device you downloaded it to.

If, after the trial, you don’t want to be charged and you don’t want to continue using the Premium plan, I suggest you follow my guide on how to deactivate Spotify.
How to import and export Spotify playlists

Would you like to import a playlist you created on SoundCloud , YouTube or Apple Music into Spotify ? No problem, I know of an online service that should be right up your alley. We are talking about Soundiiz , a platform that allows you to copy playlists to and from a wide range of online services. The basic service is free , but to unlock certain additional functions (such as the simultaneous transfer of multiple playlists) it is necessary to subscribe to a Premium subscription with costs starting from 3 euros per month .
It must be said that the transfer of playlists via Soundiiz is not always perfect: as you can easily imagine, not all services have the same songs available in their databases, but in my tests the site performed quite well. To use it, connected to its home page (which I provided you with the link in the previous paragraph) and click on the Start Now button , then log in by pressing the Sign in with Spotify button and enter the relevant credentials .
Once you have accessed the main interface of the service, press the Transfer function located in the left panel, then select the Playlist item , click on the source platform where the playlist you want to copy is located and enter the relevant credentials .

Next, select the playlist to be transferred by placing the check mark in the respective box and press the Confirm and continue button , then, in the next step, check the details of the selected element ( Title , Description , etc.) and press the Save configuration button .
At this point, check the list of included songs (you can also delete them by removing the relevant check mark), then click on the Confirm button and select Spotify as the destination service and wait for the time necessary to import. As you have certainly guessed, the service also works from Spotify to other platforms .
