Right from the start, the famous music streaming service pleasantly surprised you both for the rich catalog of albums and songs available, and for its countless features. Unfortunately, however, you soon discovered that the free version of Spotify has commercial breaks and other limitations that you can remove by activating one of the service’s subscription plans.
If things are indeed as I have described them and, therefore, you would like to know how to subscribe to Spotify , let me tell you that you have come to the right place at the right time. In the next paragraphs of this guide, in fact, I will explain how to activate the Premium version of Spotify by proceeding both from a computer and from a smartphone and tablet. First, however, I’ll take care to show you which subscriptions are available and the relative costs, so that you can choose the one that best suits your needs.

Before getting to the heart of this tutorial and explaining how to subscribe to Spotify , it might be useful for you to know what subscription plans are available and their prices.
First of all, I would like to underline immediately that Spotify Premium allows you to listen to all the songs without commercial breaks and to download songs, albums and playlists for playback in offline mode, that is, even when an Internet connection is not available. In addition, it also allows you to enjoy a special function to play music through speakers, TV, laptop or other devices, using the Spotify app from your phone or tablet as a real remote control.
The ability to share Spotify with other people in your household (ie who live at the same address as the subscription holder) and the number of accounts you can create are the only differences between the various subscription plans available.
- Individual — is the Spotify Premium individual plan that allows access to a single user. In addition to the subscription plan at a cost of 9.99 euros/month , it can also be activated by purchasing one of the prepaid plans (i.e. without automatic renewal) starting at 10.99 euros for 1 month.
- Duo — allows you to share the subscription with another user in your household. It costs 12.99 euros/month .
- Family — this subscription allows you to create up to a maximum of 6 accounts and, consequently, allows you to share Spotify Premium with 5 other people in your household. It costs 15.99 euros/month .
Furthermore, Spotify Premium Student is also available , the subscription dedicated to students that allows you to have all the features of the individual plan at half price ( 4.99 euros/month ).
Finally, you’ll be happy to know that new users, regardless of the subscription they are interested in, can activate Spotify’s free trial (usually lasting 1 month) and use the service at no cost. The free trial is not available for prepaid plans.
How to subscribe to Spotify Premium
The procedure for subscribing to Spotify Premium is simple and fast. All you have to do is select the plan of your interest, choose the payment method you prefer and proceed to activate the service. Find everything explained in detail right below.

How to Subscribe Spotify on PC
To subscribe to Spotify on PC , connected to the main page of the service, click on the Start button and access your account, selecting one of the available access methods ( Continue with Facebook , Continue with Apple or Continue with Google ) or entering your credentials in the fields Email address or username and Password .
If, on the other hand, you do not yet have an account on Spotify, click on the Subscribe to Spotify button , fill out the registration form by entering all the requested data in the Subscribe section with your e-mail address , put the check marks next to the options I accept the terms and conditions of use of Spotify and I’m not a robot and press the Subscribe button . Alternatively, you can also register using your Facebook profile or a Google account.
At this point, if you want to proceed with activating the Spotify Premium individual subscription, select the payment method you prefer between credit/debit card and PayPal . In the first case, enter your card details in the Card number , Expiry date and Security code fields and click on the Buy now button .
If, on the other hand, you have decided to use PayPal, click on Continue with purchase , enter your PayPal account details in the Email or mobile number and Password fields and click on the Login button . On the new screen that appears, specify which payment method associated with your PayPal account to use to activate Spotify and press the Continue and Accept and Continue buttons to subscribe to the service.

How do you say? Would you like to activate one of the Spotify Premium prepaid plans? In this case, on the Your plan screen, select the Change plan option and, on the new page that has opened, click on the item Other payment options relating to the Individual plan .
In the Prepaid section , click on the prepaid plan of your interest between 1 month , 3 months , 6 months and 12 months and click on the payment method you prefer between Credit or Debit Card , PayPal and Prepaid Card .
If you have chosen to pay by credit/debit card or PayPal, enter the data in the appropriate fields and click on the button to activate Spotify Premium .
If, on the other hand, you have a Spotify prepaid card (which can be purchased in authorized points of sale, such as supermarkets and tobacconists) and you have selected the Prepaid card option , enter the code in your possession in the Enter your Premium code field , put the sign check next to the option I’m not a robot and click the Continue button .
At any time, by accessing the Your plan section of your Spotify account, you can deactivate the automatic renewal of Spotify Premium, an operation that is not necessary if you have activated the service through one of the prepaid plans that I have indicated previously. How to subscribe to Spotify on Android
The procedure for subscribing to Spotify on Android is almost identical to what I indicated previously to activate the service from a computer. Also in this case, in fact, it is sufficient to access your account or create a new one and select the payment method to be used to activate Spotify.
To proceed, therefore, start the Spotify app for Android devices (also available on alternative stores, for devices without Google services) and press the Login button , to access your account.
If, on the other hand, you don’t have one, select the Sign up for free option , enter your email address in the appropriate field, create a secure password that you will need to use to access Spotify, entering it in the Create a password field , and press the Next button . Then specify your date of birth , your gender and your name , put the check mark necessary to accept the Spotify terms of use and tap the Create account button to complete the registration.

Now, press the Premium item located in the bottom menu, tap the Switch to Premium button and put the check mark next to the payment method to be associated with your account by choosing between Credit or Debit Card and PayPal . Enter the relevant data in the appropriate fields and press the button to complete the activation of Spotify Premium.
If, on the other hand, you want to subscribe to Spotify by purchasing one of the prepaid plans, press on the Premium and Switch to Premium options and tap on the Change plan item . On the new screen that appears, locate the Individual box , click on Other payment options and tap on the plan of your interest among those available in the Prepaid section .
Regardless of the choice made, put the check mark next to the payment method you prefer between Credit or Debit Card , PayPal and Prepaid Card and follow the instructions shown on the screen to enter the relevant data and complete the activation of the prepaid plan of Spotify Premium.
How to subscribe to Spotify on iPhone
Using the Spotify app for iOS/iPadOS you can create a new account but you are not allowed to activate any subscription plans.
However, you can activate Spotify Premium using the browser you usually use to surf the Internet (eg Safari ), by connecting to the main page of the service and following the instructions I gave you above to subscribe to Spotify on PC.
How to subscribe to Spotify Family
The procedure for subscribing to Spotify Family , the subscription that allows you to share Spotify with 5 other people in your household, is almost identical to what I have indicated previously to activate the individual Spotify plan.
To proceed, connect to the official website of the service, click on the Start button for the Spotify Family plan and log in to your account. If you don’t have one, select the Sign Up for Spotify option to start the signup process.
On the Your Plan screen , place a check mark next to the Credit or Debit Card option , enter your card details in the appropriate fields and click the Buy Now button to activate Spotify Family. Alternatively, by placing the check mark next to the PayPal item and pressing the Continue with the purchase button , you can subscribe using your PayPal account.
In both cases, on the Complete your plan setup screen , click on Enter your home address , enter your home address in the Your home address field and click on the Find address and Confirm buttons .
Once this is done, press the item Invite your family members and, on the new page that opens, click on the Copy link option, to copy the invitation link and send it manually to the people with whom you intend to share Spotify. Alternatively, you can send the link in question via email , Messenger or WhatsApp by clicking on the relevant option.
Each of the invited people will have to open the link received and select the Accept invitation option , in order to create their own account and confirm that they live at the same address as you. I point out that the indications I have just provided are only valid for the activation of Spotify Duo.
If you prefer to proceed from a smartphone or tablet , you should know that the procedure is almost identical to what I have just indicated to activate Spotify Family from a computer. As I explained to you earlier to subscribe to Spotify’s individual plan, if you have an Android device you can directly use the service app while on the iPhone / iPad you will have to proceed via browser. How to subscribe to Spotify Students
If you are a student and wish to subscribe to Spotify Student, connect to the main page of the service and click on the Start button in the Student box . Then log in to your account or create one by selecting the Subscribe to Spotify option .
Now, on the Verify your eligibility screen , click on the Next button , enter your personal data in the appropriate fields and, using the Name of college/university drop-down menu , select your school/university. Then put the necessary check mark to accept that the information entered will be used for verification purposes and click on the Next button .
On the new page that has opened, press the Access the school portal button to be redirected to the portal of your school/university and complete the verification using your login credentials.
Alternatively, by selecting the Upload documents option and clicking on the Select file and Send buttons , you can upload and send up to 2 documents issued by your educational institution to prove that you are currently enrolled (e.g. exam booklet , payment receipt for registration etc.).
In any case, within a few days you will receive an email with the result of the verification and any instructions to complete the activation of Spotify Student.
The indications I have just provided are also valid for activating Spotify Student from smartphones and tablets . If you have an Android device, you can proceed directly from the Spotify app.
How to subscribe to Spotify with 18apps
To subscribe to Spotify with 18app you need to create an 18app voucher, convert it into a Spotify code and use this code to activate one of the available subscription plans.
To proceed, connect to the official 18app website, select the Beneficiary Area option , press the Access item from the menu that opens and, on the new screen that appears, select one of the available access options between Enter with SPID and Enter with CIE . For the detailed procedure, you can refer to my in-depth guide.
Now, click on the Create voucher item , select the Online shop and Recorded music options and enter the denomination of the voucher to be created in the Voucher amount field . Then click on the Create voucher and Confirm buttons to create an 18 app voucher, and write down the code shown on the screen.
At this point, connect to the Spotify section dedicated to 18app, enter the coupon code you just created in the 18app Coupon field and specify your email address in the Email and Confirm email fields . Then indicate if you intend to activate Spotify for 1 month , 3 months , 6 months or 1 year , put the check mark next to the item I accept the terms and conditions of privacy and click on the Request the code button , in order to convert the 18app voucher in Spotify code.
After logging into your Spotify account, connect to this page, enter the Spotify code obtained previously in the Enter your Premium code field , put the check mark next to the option I’m not a robot and press the Continue button , to subscribe to Spotify with 18apps.
