Like Spotify via twitter has announced, the streaming service is now used by 50 million paying premium subscribers. Another 10 million users have been added since September. Apple Music, the biggest competitor, had 20 million paying subscribers last December.
So Spotify’s growth doesn’t seem to be impacted much by Apple Music. It remains to be seen to what extent offers such as the three-month Spotify subscription for 99 cents, which was advertised until the end of the year, ensure the strong growth and how long-term the effect of such offers will actually be.
