Video content from Spotify also in iPhone app from next week

In May, Spotify announced that in future it would also include video content from partner companies such as ABC, BBC, Comedy Central, NBC and TED. It has now been announced that the videos will soon also be playable in the iPhone app. The function will also be limited to a few countries at the start, but Germany is directly involved. Spotify customers in the US, UK and Spain will also be able to use the video feature.

Spotify’s video offering is available to both free users and premium customers. There should be no advertisements, at least for the time being. However, Spotify anticipates that video content will be an important source of revenue in the future. In the past few months, Spotify has tried the video function with around 10 percent of its customers.
